The International Art Trail winds its way over some 40 kilometers through the picturesque landscape of the Nature Park Hoher Fläming and links the town Bad Belzig with the town Wiesenburg. Since its inauguration in the year 2007 (northern route) and the year 2010 (southern route), it has been embellished by 28 works of art by international artists. Now it is time for new worlds through augmented reality – the Art Trail is going digital!
Along the seven-kilometer route between Klein Glien and Wiesenburg, the Art Trail has been technologically augmented with digital art. On the one hand, 3D animations by the artists – so-called avatars – have been developed, to explain six of the analogue works of art, and on the other hand, internationally renowned artists have created five new works in augmented reality. These, such as avatars, can now be found and viewed along the way.
Augmented reality (AR) means that with the help of an app, digital artworks are placed in the analogue world and made visible on an end device such as a smartphone or tablet. AR counts as being one of the most thrilling branches of contemporary art.
